have not updated this one in forever, haven’t been up to all that much, some planning for projects but very little movement toward the finishing of said projects thus far. so hopefully i’ll change that soon
So i finally completed a long running project idea to make a footswitch for my camera. The reasoning being on occasion when building/repairing/modding/whatever things i like to document it, so as i go i have to stop and grab the camera, shoot, put down, and so on. The other alternative which i have used a few times is a tripod or clamp on monopod on my workspace and go, but again, i still need to at least drop what i’m doing with one hand to press the button, so the (logical?) solution was to build a switch that can be operated by foot.
thankfully the canon pinout is simple, just a stereo 2.5mm plug
so with a project box, two momentary buttons, one push on/push off button (for the chance i may need to keep the shutter open), a 3.5mm jack, broken headphones and a 2.5mm jack i assembled a working footswitch. The reason for the 3.5mm jack and broken headphones instead of wiring straight is to allow me to use any headphone extender cable i may have on hand to shrink or expand my range (i currently use an 8 foot cable i had in my parts box)

While looking through some files the other day i came across a rather old folder of files, which included the oldest (or at least oldest i can find) mp3 in my collection, which if i recall was in fact the first mp3 i ever downloaded. Look at that fuckin modified date, September 5th 1998, goddamn (the creation date is from the last time i had to transfer data between computers)
